Riddick Weber, Pastor
Biographical Information
Riddick Weber received his AB from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1988, and his MDiv from Duke Divinity School in 2000. He has also studied at the University of Bonn in Germany and at the University of Virginia. Riddick was ordained on Sunday April 7, and installed as the pastor of Fairview on April 14. A strong connection exists between the Fairview Congregation and the Weber family. Riddick’s grandparents, Rev. Christian Otto and Dorothy Pfohl Weber served Fairview through the years of the Great Depression. Their three sons, Herbert, Christian, and Bruce grew up in the Fairview Congregation and all went into the ordained ministry of the Moravian Church
Riddick grew up in the Enterprise and Friedberg congregations, and was a charter member of Christ the King Moravian Church in Durham. He has worked within the Southern Province, serving as the Director of College-Age Ministry from 1990-1996 and working with youth in the Laurel Ridge Summer Camp programs and the Moravian Youth Convocations. Riddick first came to Fairview in 2000 as a pastoral intern to fulfill MDiv requirements. From there he became a Pastoral Assistant and then Interim Pastor before accepting the call to become the Pastor.
Riddick enjoys worship leadership, teaching Sunday School, participating in Bible studies and Gemeinschaft, and singing and playing a variety of musical instruments. His interests include how styles and forms of worship impact the church’s ability to convey the Gospel. He is also interested in the history and theology of the ancient Unitas Fratrum and the renewal in the Moravian Church led by Zinzendorf, because learning about who we have been and how God has led us in the past influence who will we become and how we may be open to God’s leading. |
